Hygiene Services

As well as providing thorough dental cleanings, our Registered Dental Hygienists, Deborah Rogers, RDH and Marsha Jones, RDH, will help you design a program tailored to your specific needs. We will carefully monitor your periodontal health through the use of periodic digital x-rays and by measuring the periodontal depths around each tooth at your regular visits. This is done in order to help you maintain a healthy bone and tissue foundation, which is essential for support of the teeth and prevention of tooth loss. We will assist you in the selection of oral physiotherapy aids for home use and in the education and training of how to most effectively use those aids.

Following is a photo taken prior to a visit with one of our hygienists. The second photo was taken 2 weeks after calculus removal, polishing of the teeth and oral hygiene instruction.

Before 2 weeks later

"In just two appointments my teeth were completely turned around! My teeth look absolutely gorgeous now! The office is one of a kind, the staff is really nice, and it was a fantastic experience."

Perhaps breath malodor is a concern for you. If so, we can help you learn how to control this embarrassing situation with particular products and techniques. Snoring is another embarrassing and annoying problem experienced by many people and our hygienists are also eager to help with this condition.

Another common concern is that of darkening and yellowing of the teeth. Our hygienists are experienced with both at-home and in-office whitening systems. And, deep bleaching is now available for those who desire the "Wow" bright effect and for those who have extremely dark teeth due to such things as staining from medications taken during early ages.

Oral Cancer Screening

Did you know that one American dies every hour of every day from oral cancer? At each periodic evaluation we perform a complete oral cancer screening. Early detection is the key to a successful outcome.

Blood Pressure Screening

Blood pressure is the force of blood against artery walls. It is measured in millimeters of mercury and recorded as two numbers - systolic pressure (when the heart beats) over diastolic pressure (when the heart relaxes between beats). Both numbers are important. Blood pressure rises and falls during the day. When it stays elevated over time it is called high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is dangerous because it makes the heart work too hard, and the high force of the blood flow can harm arteries and organs such as the heart, kidneys, brain and eyes. High blood pressure often has no warning signs or symptoms. Once it occurs, it usually lasts a lifetime. If uncontrolled, it can lead to heart and kidney disease, stroke and blindness.

Ideally, the systolic pressure should be 120 or less and the diastolic pressure should be 80 or less.
